Bass Nightmare

I had a nightmare about a bass I used to own. I dreamed that I was at church with a natural finish ash body, maple fingerboard Stingray 5 I used to have. I used the restroom and when I came out, the bass had been destroyed. A chunk of the body was missing. The pickup was gone and knobs from the pots were gone. The lower horn was gone and it had no strings.

There were lots of kids around and I suspected they did it, but I was mad, and I was hoping an adult did it, so I could fight the culprit. Later, I was in the church sanctuary and all I was wearing was underwear and a towel. I was angry and rude to everybody although I was largely being. Ignored.

As goofy as it was, the dream felt real. It was nice to realize it was a nightmare. I guess a Freudian analyst would have quite a lot to tell me.
That sounds like a typical Tuesday for me.

That’s a strange dream, especially being mad, wanting to fight and being there at church in your underwear and a towel.
If you care to share your pastor’s phone number I could give him a “heads-up” about a possible upcoming event. 😳😂

The theorys of Jung might be a bit more geounded than those of Freud. Perhaps the bass represents the fact that the some part of the world external to yourself is distressed, changing. There is an event happening or about to happen that is making you question who/what you are.

But destruction is simply the beginning point of reconstruction. A measured analysis of what was, and planning for how to build it back but better. Won't be easy.

The trip to the bathroom suggests that the change was forced upon you, whether through design or simple circumstance. The kids and general sense of anger suggest you are not entirely pleased with the neccessity of the change.

The state of undress is an acknowledgement that the journey will be difficult, possibly more so that you can manage. The church venue symbolizes your sources of strength - experiences, people and places from which you derive a sense of foundation. You will find strength in these things.

25 years on and finally use that one semester of classes I had!

I am in the process of retiring.

I know nightmares. Have them every night.

I think you need to get a Stingray already. Why fight it anymore?

Now the only question is four or five strings? Maybe both?

I’ve had similar anxiety dreams about my instruments, but my more frequent dream is that I find instruments in the closet of my childhood bedroom that are similar to ones I already have, but with extra hidden features like push-pull switches that activate fancy modes, secret compartments, etc.

I take it to mean there is still a lot for me to explore in music, it’s a lifelong project with many rewards and surprises, and I should keep pushing forward!

Are you sure it was a bass in your nightmare? Sounds like what happens when you park your car in New York City just to "run in and pick up coffee!"
Was only gone a minute!
As far as "all I was wearing was underwear and a towel?" Now it sounds like you were on the subway! Why was your car in the subway?

Reminds me of a nightmare I had where you posted one of your demos wearing only underwear and a towel!

A recurring dream I have is it’s 30 minutes before a gig and I don’t have my equipment because it’s in two or three different towns and if I try to call someone to bring it, the phone always seems to develop malware.
