Bass of Doom...

Christ - a metal player with the Bass of Doom. Jaco is turning over in his grave. Wearing knee length shorts, tats, piercings and waddling around like a frog on stage playing the same bass is ... well ... sad. But that's just my opinion. I'm at least glad that it's safeguarded. If I were Trujillo, and had the money to buy this bass, I would have given it back to Jaco's family.

Listen to Jaco wail on his quote of Hendrix's Third Stone From the Sun during Slang- fuzz tone deluxe times 10. Jaco appreciated aspects of heavy metal. I think Jaco would be cool with Robert, and not look down his nose at him. We all do what we can, man. Glad the bass is not in the hands of the guitar shop guy, and Robert is basically holding the bass as a custodian until the Pastorius estate can muster the funds to repay Robert. It's cool.

Trujillo doesn't have tats or piercings! :D Although it can't be denied that he does do the waddling thing...

He's also one hell of a player (plays a lot more than just metal), a nice guy, and obviously has the Pastorius family's best interests at heart. Playing with Metallica has given him the financial means to acquire and safeguard the bass, so at least there won't be any more hassles with that. The Pastorius family know where it is, that it's safe and that it's no longer subject to any legal disputes. Also, I, for one, would love to hear the sound of the Bass Of Doom on a Metallica track! :)
