While I don't really see the 3DME system being something I'd personally have great interest in, it does seem impressive.

Update: I got an Xvive and plugged the transmitter into the DI of my Zoom B3. It actually works really well. The band plans to get a new mixer so I will be able to eventually have my own full IEM mix. In the meantime, however, the bass-only IEM with the 3DME ambient mics is great!

Sorry to necrobump, but just curious if this is still working for you? Just bought a 3DME (planning on just using the ambient mics) but the option of running a little bass into it using something like the Xvive might be tempting if I'm struggling to hear the lowest of lows.

Note the xvive is mono signal only so I dont think it is ideal for using with the 3dme system. I would go with a stereo hardwired feed before going mono signal every time. This is largely a case of buy once cry once I absolutly wouldn't cheap out on your wireless iem system i made that mistake many times before trying to save some money on a wireless I've tried like 5 or 6 cheaper ones and they all sucked pretty bad I could have easily bought a good system right away if I hadn't wasted the money and bought all of the el cheapo ones attempting to save money first.

It has been a good way to add a bit of bass back in, so to speak. I don't have to blast my amp (more than is already tempting) and contribrute to a volume war. Sometimes I turn off the ambient mics when things (drums) get too loud. I know it isn't an ideal setup, but it has improved my experience for the short term. If you can swing it, get molded plugs for the 3DME earphones for better bass response. Also (as stated previously in this thread) some devices have more output than others. I tried using a regular passive DI and got a very weak signal. Using the Zoom B3 works much better.

I am fortunate enough to have a full IEM system, custom molds, etc, plus a dedicated monitor engineer for my “main” gig.

however I occasionally “sub” (play at philanthropic or community fundraising events) where the setup can be a brutal mix of amateur and loud.

In this setting I do exactly what’s described here:
Preamp or modeler (usually an Hx stomp) into a wireless transmitter (usually mipro 58) into the 3DME. My bass sound mixed to taste with ambient sound, fully sealed. Is it as good as my pro system? Of course not. Does it protect my hearing, let me hear myself very effectively, and let me hear other musicians well enough to play the right notes in time? Yup!

I've necroed this in another thread but I suppose that it's relevant here as well:

Considering just the active ambient filtering of the 3DME, how has the kick-in reaction time of the limiters/compressors been so far?
I've seen many electronic earplugs such as Etymotic Research's MusicPro advertising low compression attack/release times (5ms) but are too slow for live drums when tested, in which case the transients (cymbals and snares) are untamed for a split-second before cutting right after. The results are, then, unmelodic and choppy.

I'm also looking into 3DME since passive earplugs don't convey fidelity well and lower-to-mid-end electronic earplugs have problems with low registers.

If you have IEM feeds from digital consoles (even the small footprint ones like the XR18 or Mackie DL16, etc) you have limiter/EQ capability on the mix busses.
I've never seen the need for additional settings above that and what the typical IEM receiver had built in.
But each you their own.. so YMMV.

Sure, i use a TH pedal for eq on Ears through ZS buds. These aren't moulded so bleed from band on stage is there too.

This sounds like much to about nothing. Why can’t you just have the sound person give you the mix you want? No drums no problem, just bass too easy, but how do you play without hear the rest of the band.IJS
