bass pedals?

Looking to add some keyboard now and then and am looking for some options for the low end.
I'm a much stronger bassist than keyboard player, so working my left hand on a seperate "bass" keyboard ain't gonna happen.
So.......
Any options to be able to hold the low end while playing the keys. I remember geddy lee used to play some bass pedals but haven't heard to much about them and don't know if they are still in production or in my price range.
Any ideas are welcome, with the exeption of someone ele playing my bass.

Are you talking about the Moog Taurus bass pedals? I'm not sure if you meant you wanted effects pedals or pedals that you can play bass notes with.

Hang on, if I understand you correctly you are saying you are not a strong keyboard player, so you would prefer to play the bass parts with your feet rather than your left hand whilst playing keys with your right hand?

Honestly, I would spend time working on that left hand rather than throwing money at something that might be even more difficult to do.

Taurus pedals are around 3K- for small money the Korg R3 ain't bad, as a mini synth.

That Moog Taurus sure is sweet, but it sure is pricey. As all Moog products are.

Sorry if I wasn't clear. I meant to say i'd like to throw the small keyboard part in, now and then while still holding down the low end. Since the moog pedals are so pricey, prob just better hiring a part time keyboard guy.

Well, I mean... it's not THAT hard to learn to play a bass part with your left hand.
Just practice for a month or two...
or work for however long it takes you to save 3 grand and buy a moog taurus...
and THEN practice for a month or two learning how to play bass lines with your feet.

There's no way around it man. Sorry.

What your looking to do can be done cheaper than the Taurus, although you wont be getting authentic Taurus sound. If you have a midi capable keyboard, you can control patches on it with this http://www.roland.com/products/en/PK-5A/index.html

Question: What sort of keyboard parts are you looking at adding?

Reason I ask is I wonder if you could 'fake' them with other techniques, or get other band members to play those parts on their instruments. Brass lines often translate well to guitar for example.

Or with a bit of two hand tapping you could play a simple melody with the right hand and tap out a simple bass line with the left. For example, the opening to 'Paradise City', I hold down the bass notes and play the brass notes with my right hand at the same time. Or again, I play the piano intro to 'Mamma Mia' with tapping a la Stu Hamm's 'Country Music' style.

Although if you can do this, you could just as easily play keyboard with both hands

However if you are dead set on playing keyboards and bass yourself, I really, really do think you'd be digging a hole for yourself by attempting to cover the bass with pedals. Getting two hand coordinated is difficult enough, getting hands and feet coordinated is another level. Even accomplished keyboard players find it difficult. I really so advise to work on your left keyboard hand. You never know, it might improve your bass technique too.

I think your other idea of getting an actual keyboard player is better though!
