It is a red tail.. and a common. They are the same.
If we want to get technical, she's a Colombian Red Tail.. :D

I've heard that the paler ones that look a bit faded out as they grow were called the common boas and the ones who kept their markings really bright were redtails. I used to have a friend who bred them and that's what he said. I used to have one and kept it until it got to be about 7 ft. but then sold it to him. It got too big for the cage I had at that point.

That's just a breeder line. They have many types as far as the colors and regions they are from. But the basic red-tail and commons are one in the same. Brighter tails are a nice selling point though.
This one is 6 months old and about 2.5 feet. She shoudl get between 7-10 feet. Can't wait for those pictures of her on my basses.

"The Boas that we see imported by the thousands from Colombia are not True Red Tailed Boas as they are Boa c. imperator which is found West of the Andes Mountains.

"These Colombian boas are considered to be non red tailed (although they do possess a red tail). They are instead referred to as "Common Boas " or Colombian Boas.

"True 'Red Tailed' Boas are the nominant race, Boa c. constrictor. The True Red Tailed Boas are the boas found East of the Andes Mountains in South America (Surinam, Guyana, Brazil, Peru, etc. ). They get much larger than Colombian Boas and have very deep red tails." ...Vin Russo

I was reluctant to post, but whateva.

Random picture I took of the view from my window with my old LG camera phone.

I don't think I noticed the bass was there when I took the picture. :rollno:
