Bass Pickup Question

When I try to play my bass through my amp, I get no noise from it unless I touch one of the magnets on the pickup with my finger which makes a huge buzzing noise. Otherwise I've checked my cables and amp with another guitar and they work fine. So is the problem the pickup, and if so are there anyways I can fix it?

Sounds like diff wiring problem. Take it in to a tech if you cant spot any loose wires and where they go.
