Just introducing myself. Being a long time bass player I feel right at home on this forum and want to thank you for letting me in. Just to let you now where I stand:
I believe tone is in your fingers, not in your gear. Yet as any bassist I know: I constantly tinker with my gear and can talk for hours on the subject.
I don't hate guitarists for not realising how important the bass is. I've lost that chip on my shoulder a long time ago. (And anyway hornplayers are far worse).
I've always prefered 10 inch speakers over bigger ones and I'm especially proud of my very small home built 2*10 stack that's specially tuned for double bass. (I stole some schroeder idea's). All though I have to say I find my opinions are shifting as I've bought a bigger car.
I'm not stuck to a particular musical style and mostly play double bass or frettless. I use my frettless for everything, including normaly 'fretted music'.
I resent all songs containing 14 or more different chords. I think it's a bassplayers task to clarify the harmonic structure and counteract keyboard players and guitarists who think "more is more".
