Bass player you (we) may not know

I've been thinking for a while on all those "hidden gems" you can find when you go outside your borders. There so many great artists that we don't get to know becuase they are not wide spread as they should. Even people that in their own country they are legends but they simply don't reach other palces for some (sometimes unkown) reason.

So I was thinking it would be a cool thing for all of us as a community to help bring those walls down and present to other folks great players that, otherwise, may remain unkown for them.
It doesn't need to be someone from "your land" (although this one is) but someone you know that is great but most people ignore he/she exists.

I decided to start with Javier Malosetti, an argentinian jazz/fusion bass player. I hope you enjoy it and I hope all of you people can bring more great artists of nay genre here

That is true, but also it happens a lot that there are certian genres of music that are very successful in a especific region but not outsise, Country music for example.

Really cool player, to bad there is not much stuff of him in good quality, but I really liked it

George McArdle - Little River Band (Australia)
Gerald Johnson - The Steve Miller Band (USA)
Although these are fairly well known bands, the players didn't get much recognition for their contributions, and so you may consider adding them to your list.

Dave Smith, up here in Portland. His band, Sweet n Juicy, is recording an album, in the finance phase currently, but I have heard the band, and more to the point Dave play. They are good and Dave is exceptional. He isn’t likely to play the a song twice the same way, which may be problematic for some. Here he is at his most constrained on this original. Yeah, he writes too.

He’s not a pocket driven playing style guy. More like he moves up the rhythm chain and plays in the middle, busier and comping lines while thumping ones.

I’m kinda a fan, will go to see him play and record the set, listen to it for days afterwards. He plays a four string too. Like Jaco, big ears and 4 is all he needs.
I think he may make a contribution soon...or not.

The Kush stuff may be harder to track down than the Zappacosta CD. Innocence Ballet. Sin-Drome #0715776891720. Released in 1995. Kush is on YouTube. Search for Etric Lyons and Kush comes up.
