Bass Players Everyone Should Know (But Don't)

Simple rule: list the player(s) you love, but aren't household names. If you want to link a performance, or list their style, that's cool too! This is in the spirit of spreading the word of Bass, no suggestion is a bad suggestion! I'll start:

1. Doug Johns - very funky guy with a great life story:

2. Robertino Pagliari - Fretless metal/jazz fusion whiz with the band OHM

3. Eric "Jesus" Coombs - tasty funkmaster with the band Lettuce

1) Guy Pratt - he's starting to show up more on podcasts and YouTube, but still not as well known as he should be. a massive body of work, a huge brain, a great wit... his book is a must-read for any musician. Like a Prayer (Madonna), Floyd, Michael Jackson, etc.

2) Ian Hill - a massively integral sound of Judas Priest and a massively influential heavy metal bassist, and I would argue that while his style might seem "simplistic" it is actually unorthodox
