Okay, I'm not sure if I should say that, but I just visited Glenn at Bass Specialties in Bensalem, PA.

OH MY GOD!

You open the door, and BAMM! You first notice the many basses. As you walk in, you hit a strap display with all bass friendly, shoulder friendly straps (I came home with a Sadowsky strap).

Then, there, like Dorothy in wonderland, the basses begin. Four racks of mostly MIA Fender, including Roadworns, and high end Ibanez.

Then, on the left wall, one of only 15 Ibanez 30th Anniversary basses. Then, the wall hits you with Sadowsky, MTD USA, Elrick, Exotic, Pedulla, Mike Lull...

A vintage Alembic in the back...

A center display of MTD, Lakland, Human Base, Spector (starting to get too excited at this point).

Roscoes, including a few of his own personal, and well, it was the best bass peep show I've ever seen on the east coast, bar none.

Check out his place online, and call Glenn if you are in the market for a spectacular bass.

Oh, and tell him I sent you....

Tom

Oh man, I want to go to there. I've called them several times with G&L questions, and they were very helpful, but I've never been by. I live less than an hour away, and now it sounds like I'm doing myself a great disservice by not stopping in. I've been meaning to try out an SB-2 anyway. Thanks for the hot tip!
Did you happen to notice what they're carrying in the way of effects, if any?

How many lefties?

I saw at least a half dozen, maybe even 10. Sorry I don't remember every brand, but I know there was a Sadowsky and a Mike Lull for sure. Call Glenn. He definitely had more lefty basses in stock then I've ever seen in one place!

I live 10 minutes from there and I've never been. I'm an idiot.

Go there tomorrow. Glenn will be taking the very rare day off on Saturday, but he will be there tomorrow. So, what is your excuse? ;)

Oh, and for added motivation, the casino is two minutes further up the road...

If its a tried and true, bass effect, he has it! I saw pretty much all of the known stuff in his display case. You really should just get in your car and go. Worth the gas. Will give you G.A.S.....

And don't forget to tell him I sent you....

i took the 45 minute ride out there once and the guy got mad when i played a couple basses, i think he said something about making the basses used. i dont remember slapping or anything like that, i think it was a fretless i was playing.
anyway i said bye and took my 2 grand over to guitar center.

I drove down there from NY to look at a singlecut 4 string with Aero pickups (might have been an Elrick but don't hold me to that). I got there and he spent the entire time on the phone with someone talking about a gig he had in Atlantic City. It was early December a few years ago because I was on my way to the Army/Navy Game. I always at least buy strings at a Bass store to help them out. After 30 minutes I just walked out.

Have not even looked at the site since.

I love Glenn and Bass Specialties. I've bought a couple basses from him including Ying Yang Standard #34. He's a great guy and the shop is just awesome.

Parx is right across the street and Sonic is about a mile away (although it just closed :().

He is going to have a substitute saleskeep in Saturday, so don't cancel your road trip just yet.
