Contact me via PM and I will give you the phone number to Yang's Violin in Nashville. I bought all the basses we use in my String Orchestra from him. He is a whole-seller of stringed instruments, he also plays with the Nashville Symphony. You will pay half of what every other shop sells one for and the quality will be better than what anyone else offers. You will not find a web-site and you won't find a store front, he works out of his house in Brentwood. His house is probably 6000 square feet or more.

The main place in the Maryville/Knoxville area that actually stocks and services double basses, and has for quite a few years now, is The Music Outlet in Sevierville.

The force is strong at Gruhns. I've had the privilege of going upstairs and is like the holy of holies.

And you never know who you might meet there. We were there one time and a guy walked by me in cutoff jeans and flipflops. I didn't pay him any mind but someone with me pointed out that it was Vince Gill. As we left we met Amy Grant.

Another vote for Williams Fine Violins in Nashville. They have a great stock and one of my students bought the carved bass that Dennis Crouch used on the Plant/Krause tour there.
