Concerning you last post...if you've got your theory down do what one of the other posters suggested transpose some of your right hand piano licks down and play them on the bass. If you're looking for easy harmonious lines that people recognize you're primarily looking at pop music. Some people may recognize "My Generation" - The Who, try the intro to "Long Distance Runaround", if you can sing try "Whip It" - Devo and then "Owner of a Lonely Heart" - Yes. They have similar construction (and if you wanna learn how to sing while playing the instrument)...if these are too easy...try learning an older jazz piece like "Lopsy Lu" - Mr. Clarke. For a neat straight forward popping line listen to Ponty's bassist on "Ethereal Molecules". Learn a Bouree or Minuet, they're easily played if not understood. This is all older music but it's fine for background
Good Luck.
