Bass Stand Replacement "Foam" Recommendations

I have a bunch of "A-frame" bass stands in my practice space. Our new kitten seemed to love spending time in our practice space. I now know why. He ate all the "foam" ends of 5-6 A-frame bass/guitar stands. And a few dollars (not going to state the extraordinary amount I paid for surgery to unblock his bowel) later, we've locked him out of the practice space. However, where can I either get replacement "foam" tubing or an alternative?I 've contacted MusiciansFriend, Sweetwater, and "OnStage" but none of them were able to recommend a substitute or alternative to the foam tubing. Any suggestions?

I have used surgical tubing (Amazon) and evel fuel line tubing from O'Reily's auto parts.
On yours I would cut the jacked part off and just slide it forward.

This^ I've used clear flexible plastic tubing from Lowes. Look for the size large enough that will fit over the metal and bends but stays in place. They will last forever after that.

Question on surgical tubing. If using black, would that rub off on a white (light colored) bass? I'll also look at the clear flexible tubing from Lowes.

One thing you can do is install the foam/tubing, and then wrap it in cloth, like a cloth diaper or guitar polish cloth. This will eliminate any reaction the tubing might have with the finish.
