FWIW - I have stopped taking orders for select brands if their items are not in stock. They have been taking far too long for me to receive product from them (not just me other dealers as well). The majority of other brands I usually fulfill within the time stated. There can always be delays and I do all I can to combat them especially when given the opportunity to do so.

I appreciate the feedback and will continue to improve things.

(sigh) "Ships in 1-5 days" = OUT OF STOCK!! Why else would it not ship immediately? (doh!)
That sort of shipping estimate is an advisory for your convenience... (if yer in a hurry then you might want to look around for another vendor who actually has them in stock!)

Seems OBVIOUS to me, but then again I have been buying stuff for more than 50 years.

@SLaPiNFuNK, perhaps you might consider reformatting those notices to read

OUT OF STOCK: usually ships in 1-5 days

Noted! There is a limited amount of text I can have there. Each product needs to be individually notated as each brand etc has a different lead time. Over 4000 individual listings I am already talking with one of my employee's about updating.

Don't need to mess with all of the products in the database, just edit the Website page template with the prefix
"OUT OF STOCK: usually " for any out of stock items that would typically print just the estimate there ... :)

One minor gripe I have:

For more obscure packs of strings, BSO tends to list them as in stock when they really aren't. I've been using the site for years now, and any time I'm ordering a 6 string set other than D'Addario's, it will take 2-3 weeks before I get a shipment confirmation. Every time.

I get that it takes a while to get stuff, and I purposely buy stuff that nobody else stocks (because where else am I going to get them?). I just wish that the website was more up front about packs that will need to be specially ordered.

That said, I will continue to order from BSO, the prices are right and their selection is excellent.

Please let me know which set(s) you are referring to? I recently went through and updated the inventory on everything so this should not be the case. I understand it was last year but that has been adjusted.

I am always happy to check stock before accepting and order! For those "obscure strings" the website will no longer accept an order for them, but also the manufacturer has discounted them due to complaints overall...

I'll use my latest order as an example: # BASS- 89570 for a custom set of D'addarios and a 6 string set of GHS Boomers. Purchased on the 10th

You ended up splitting the order; I received the D'Addario's at my door less than a week from purchase. Still haven't heard anything about the Boomers. I'm assuming that you had to send out for the Boomers, and I'll hear something in a week or so. This has been the pattern for the last 5 years or so, so at this point I've just come to expect that anything I can't find from any other retailer will take around 3 weeks to arrive.

I haven't sold a set of those since July 2017, before that it was February 2016. Not exactly a set I want to keep on the shelf. They are in transit to me. If a set that I sell one a year of is going to cause this much trouble I am going to remove it right now.

glad you liked it! I was hoping to do another one today... Will be doing a live question / answer thing every week though on my facebook. I did an experiment on Wednesday to see what it was like... I'll advertise the next ones.
