I just learned about the Yamaha B1D MIDI interface for bass. It appears to be very reasonably priced; BUT does it work? Can anyone give me the lowdown on it? Or suggest other units?
The Yamaha B1D is not a bass-to-MIDI interface. It's just a polyphonic pickup like the Roland GK3B, which provides separate signals from each string into a 13-pin output.
You can send that output to a guitar-to-MIDI interface like the Roland GI20 or the Axon, guitar synthesizers like the Roland GR-20, or modeling devices like the Roland VB-99 V-bass.
