Chris, I'm trying to incorporate those two chords Am7 and Em7 but still have doubts.

Here are those very slow and seriously EQ-ed (in order to hear the played chords) two measures.
What do you think?

He constantly plays inversions. For me the bass line suggests Am7 - Em7. What do you think it should be, only Am7? Em7 is almost the same chord.

A favourite Am7 voicing for me is played on the D-G-B-E strings (barre at the 5th fret)-
G-C-E-A

...bass can play almost anything.

(Throw in the open A and) raise the top A to B for a Am9. I like to 9 sound

It's so funny because the first chord (the top harmonic layer) has all those notes of
A - B - D - E - G.

The first chord in the second measure has F# - A - (B) - D and
the second chord - Beat3 has F# - G# - B - D.

C6 - D6 - Gadd9 and Emin7(13) - B7.

Yes, the song is full of these movements. It would become illegible to write this all down.
C6 = Am. The B7 is the V of, and resolves in, the Em7 in the next measure. Here the bass line suggests Am as well.

All very susceptible for interpretation.

Then, one year (way back when), I caught the Jacksonville Jazz Fest on PBS. Joshua Redman with McBride on electric bass...I had no idea he even played EB...then I read that he started on electric bass before moving to acoustic bass.
Monster musician!
