1. Make. Dual Joy (Chinese)
2. Model. unknown
3. Year. unknown
4. Carved
5. Shape. Gamba
6. Fittings. Ebony
7. Size. small 3/4
8. Hardware. Fair
9. Tone. Good, but small sound. Since I always use an amplifier, this is hardly an issue.
10. Neck. Thin, crazy thin. Coming from electric bass this felt very comfortable.
11. Setup. Good. Lisa Gass at L.A. Bass Works fixed me up with a much better quality bridge and adjusted the nut.
12. Price. $2500 almost two years ago.
13. Comments. my 2nd upright (the 1st upright I owned about 25 yrs ago was originally a plywood something or other that was put out to pasture from a local school system's music dept. I sold it after becoming frustrated with the high action and lousy sound. didn't know what a good setup was.)
I regularly get good comments on the tone (Fishman Full Circle and Corelli 370 Mediums). The shoulders are quite sloped and is real easy to get around on. Has an Eb neck. Kind of plain Jane looking, but the sound is decent and it's easy to play.
