Bass you can't bond with

My silly words are that there are companies that make basses that are a beauty to behold (e.g. Marleaux / Mayones / Warwick and hundreds others that surface during each NAMM) and combine innovation with craftmanship.

Anything 35 scale is a big NO for me.

Jazz basses are a NO . Can’t stand the isolated bridge pu tone. I only like them with both pu full on. That makes them 1 trick ponies for me. Bodies are not comfortable .

Stingray basses. Some of my favorites favor them. They sound great in their hands . Just not for me. Necks are too big, body too big, weight too heavy. I only like the 2 band models. This is however the only active basses that I like the sound of.

Active basses are a NO.I prefer passive.

I’ve found my perfect fit basses in my MusicMan Caprice and Fender Squier CV 60’s Precision.

I have only have one criteria, one will the voice fit the music I’ll be playing. Other than that, I don’t suffer inconveniences such as the radius of the neck, nut width, string placing, weight and such. If it’s the “voice”, I’m good enough to deal it. For me, it’s always sound first.

Sure, the pen analogy works. Also, sure it is picky and that is fine. This is one of those things people are completely allowed to have preferences about, unlike stopping a red lights or stealing. So, yeah, I pick basses that match my preferences.

I've bought many instruments that were great sounding and looking and just didnt' fit, sometimes I bought several of the breed or played dozens of them in the stores before I gave up.

-My cure for the Jazz was a p-bass neck. I've owned a couple Jazzes and played hundreds but never found a regular jazz bass neck I liked.
-80's Matsumoku basses of the doublecut, 2x2 style headstock style (many made in many brand names). Bought 2, played a dozen others.
-Vintage viola bass. All the necks are too skinny but dang do they sound great. Owned one played several others.
-etc, etc

I don't like the necks on Precisions. I'd be interested in getting one with a replacement Jazz neck, but y'know, money, effort.

Whilst I'm sure they're all great basses, most modern-styled instruments just don't do it for me. That style just reminds me of the 90's and early 2000's metal bands; I feel that's a period most of us can happily forget.

I feel this way about those Ibanez basses. They may be fantastic instruments, but they just aren't my tastes.
