By "some time to come" are you talking weeks, months, years...? Per doctor's orders? ...
I ask because, as a cyclist who has only half-jokingly been telling people "I'm one epic ride away from needing a
Anyhow, good luck with your surgery! That's a sweet looking R3.

Thanks, For me it is indeterminate. There are 3 compartments in your knee, at least in replacement speak. My left knee medial is shot. Not much meniscus left, arthritic build up. The other 2 are not great but they are in better condition. The Doc is a guy I trust. He's done 3 of my 4 arthroscopy's. I have several friends who have used him with good results - and he's 90 minutes away so it's not like he's a local bud... What doc tells me is that the TKR has a predictably better outcome when all 3 compartments are worn out. So for me it is a waiting game. Months, lord I hope not more ... not riding is bad. Not skiing is life changing.

...and yeah. The R3 is by far the best road bike I have ridden. However I can ride my e-gravel bike with out the pain and that makes a difference. I'm going to hate moving the Django but an eMTB will get a ton more use.

Just a pretty shot from another ride.

I am expecting imminent delivery of my new Norco Bigfoot 2.

Every email that's arrived this week, I think its the message from the shop to come and pick up the bike. My heart sinks to immediate disappointment each time I realize it's not.

I ordered it in November and knew there would be delays, but holy hell, it's almost spring!

I hope to get at least one snow ride in before it all melts!

It's this one:

What psi of air do those tires get?

Uau, I love that! That frame is gorgeous!

I really like those extra screw holes on the frame and fork.

I would assume somewhere in the ball

Thanks - I wasn't crazy about the colour scheme, but that's the one that was available for shipping the soonest. I can live it it. but otherwise, the frame is pretty neat. Meant to be able to stand over the top bar when your feet are buried in snow below the wheel base!

I'm going to ride it all year round, I think. Not on any routes with a lot of climbing, but at least on the local forest trails.

That seems high.
I run 4 to 7 psi depending on snow conditions. In summer and fall I run 7 to 9 psi for single track. Tubeless.

That's the factory spec. I have no fat tire experience and won't know what I prefer until I actually ride the thing.

Edit - was looking at the specs for a different model. Yeah, single digits for snow seems to be the thing. Up to 10 psi for dirt.

The highest I’ve ever run was 12 psi for road use. Different tires/treads benefit from various pressures. Experiment and find what works best for you. Invest in a fatike pressure guage as the guages on most pumps are useless at lower pressures. Fatbikes are so much fun.

Well, I got the best phone call of the week this morning. The Bigfoot arrived!!!

Took it out for spin late this afternoon - perfect conditions. 0C and very forgiving snow conditions.

Still have to dial a few things in - tire pressure being one of them. Front seemed right, rear was really soft. I’ll check the actual pressure tomorrow…

But - man, I’m very happy to back on a bike! Even if in a few weeks I should be able to get the road bike out. This machine will be great for the rolling single track in my local woods!

Top photo is a section of trail I cut last summer. Bottom photo is the local groomed ski/multiuse trail. I also volunteer on the trail crew that maintains these….fat bikes not only allowed but encouraged.

Bummer about the knee, 4Mal. That's a big fear of mine and I'd say my time is coming. I will 100% be switching to an e-mtb if/when that happens.

We finally got a bit of snow so I'm back on the fatbike after riding my Troy most of the winter. I upgraded the bars and pedals and got a dropper for it this year.

Awesome that you finally got your fatbike, @DirtDog! I run about 7/5psi for groomed/hard packed snow and 5/3 (or even a bit less) when it's soft on Vee Bulldozers which aren't hugely different from the Avalanches. You definitely want to be below 10 on those big tires for snow riding. Good god, I only run 22/20 in the summer on 2.5s. I'd be bouncing around like a pinball at 40+. :D
