Basses for bassists with back issues

I've got major back issues. I had major back surgery four years ago. Mike Lipe made me three chambered basses. They're feather light and are wonderful instruments. Check out lipeguitars.com Here's some shots of a couple. ImageUploadedByTalkBass1368692591.287262.jpgImageUploadedByTalkBass1368692622.965336.jpg

Back issues and almost 50 years of general wear and tear via the Army, motorcycles, lifting weights, etc. is another reason I like Ibanez SRs. Even the SRX neck-thrus are too heavy for me for a three-set show. Anything more than 8 lbs and I won't risk it, even if the strap is three feet wide.

Hi

I also have trouble standing up playing. My band keeps telling me to sit down.I feel funny about sitting down when most are standing.I'm going on 70 and maybe the sitting down is not so bad.It may be a good solution. What do you think?
