I wish I didn't know this bass was here. I think I tried this one (or one like it - the look is very similar) at Hammond Ashley back in 2007 and it really got me. I didn't end up buying it because at the time I wasn't quite ready to buy a real bass, but it's what got me started down that road. It's the only Golia I've ever played but it was a damned fine bass and a steal at its price point at the time.

Mike Arnopol's Golia is a killer bass. Easy to play with a lush and singing sound. One of the finest new basses I've gotten to try. And it came from Italy to Chicago just before winter and never developed a crack. Phenomenal!

Looks like I missed that the post I replied to is 3 years old but it was at Hammond Ashley, I think. I thought I saw it in the background of a recent Instagram post from them so maybe it’s still there?

They also sometimes have John Koehler basses which I’d love to try out. Maybe worth a stop.

Again I have never spoke with you in the past, you do not recall the date or time because it is a lie. I have not forgotten anything, and you were not simply asking to members information, what you vividly recall it is another Lie. I know who you are and what your secondary intention was in writing that comment about were the woods are harvested. I absolutely think you are a scammer and you exchanged emails with me in the last month under a faked name, not providing a phone number and asking for a lot of information in a very shady way.

Instead, I would like to say that I've had my Golia bass for almost 10 years now, and it just keeps on getting better and better. It is the easiest playing large bass I have experienced by far. And as mentioned previously, it responds very quickly and very precisely to any technique applied to it.

I have had opportunities to play several remarkable basses including Fendt, Carcassi, Kennedy, DaSalo, Prescott, as well as many basses by modern luthiers. I place my Golia double bass among them with the greatest confidence.

Please note, though I'm a commercial user, I have no arrangement with Luciano other that of a satisfied customer.

What’s that cool looking little emblem thing under the fingerboard on the top of the bass?

It's a rosette, carved on the top. It does not go all the way through. Here's a better picture.

I am closing this thread for now until the situation involving Mr. Golia and his family being trolled/stalked is resolved by authorities outside of this site. Should anyone see any new threads or posts denigrating the Golia bass brand, especially from new members here on talkbass, please report the post in question and do not respond.
