On the Bernie Mac show there is a Fender P-Bass in the background when he sits in the leather chair and adresses America... its a redish color..

i'm pretty sure it was orange.. thats exactly what came to mind when i read this thread title.

What always gets me is how Jack Lemmon (Jerry/Daphne) in "Some Like it Hot" hauled that bass around like it weighed two pounds. Wish I could get me one of those . . .

Of course, that bass probably DID weigh 2 pounds, at least the one used when they are running or jumping around.

In the film North By North West, if my memory is correct, during the beginning you can see Alfred Hitchcock getting on a bus with an upright bass.

Hitchcock's cameo with a double bass was actually in Strangers on a Train....

Wasn't that his replacement with the Fender? After he joined the army? Not sure, been awhile

Anyways, there's the scene at the end of The Terminal with Benny Golson's band for some string bass action

couldn't find a screen shot, but wasn't there a scene with Terri Garr in "Tootsie" that showed a double bass in the background. Not clear whether Terri was actually be able to play it or not...

I can't remember which James Bond movie it was, but Pierce Brosnan was Bond in this film.

James gets led up to a recording studio where the bad guys hope to off him. James turns the tables and defeats the henchman by throwing double bass at him.

In the ballroom scene in Get Smart, you can see a beautiful Mario Lamarre bass. The film was shot in Montreal where this luthier lives. You get to see the bassist as well in a couple of shots. I'm not sure who it is though.

I recently watched Meet the Robinsons with my little one. About 36 minutes in, there is big band made of frogs. There's a good shot of a frog playing a white double bass.

Good shot of Hitch getting on the train. I haven't seen that one before, but I'm sure I saw a street scene of him doing the same thing with a bass but getting on a bus. I'll have to suss that movie out.

"The Talented Mr. Ripley" has a great scene in Italy with live Jazz which is provided by the best of English Jazz players - the guys I see at my local Jazz club each week!!

I don't see where anyone has mentioned the bass played by the Darlings (Dillards) on the Andy Griffith show. It appeared any number of times...can anyone identify it?

There is this movie with Jerry Lewis and his friend (i don't remember the name). They play in a girl big big band dressed as girls and the friend of Jerry Lewis (again a well know actor I forgot the name) plays the double bass in the band.
