Basses Using Counterfeit Fender headstock decals

I just don't personally agree with the "stomp on the little guy to make the big corporation a few extra bucks" aspect of copyrights. Defending personal designs is one thing, hoarding the market of a generic design is a totally different thing. I see this as approaching that kind of situation, because I personally see the Fender headstock design as approaching (read: APPROACHING) generic status. But again, that's just my opinion.

While it may be your opinion that the Fender headstock is approaching generic, fact is, Fender owns it, and that makes copying it against the law. So maybe you don't know what's going on. At least it appears that way.:hmm:

My argument may not make it sound like I do because it's a lot more my opinion than facts, but I have taken a few business classes. I'm no expert, but I know what's going on.

No disrespect, but you really have no grasp on the concept of intellectual property or trademark laws. No matter what the reasoning behind it being done, it is illegal. Period.

Its very different and bad for a business to offer to put someone else's professional mark on an instrument that they've fabricated. Its illegal, it violates a number of laws...and there's no reasoning that makes sense in this case.

"just because I ordered it that way" doesn't make it right or legal. The customer in this case, isn't always right. Now, if you take that instrument home, and put a logo on yourself, then, you're doing what you will with something that you own, again...if you try to sell that thing you've stepped over the line.

Its not a case of 'what its represented as'.

Hi Guys,
one thing you got right is that a customer would write to tell me the same guys are violating rule number 1 and slamming my character AGAIN. Whatever it takes for you to feel some self worth, go ahead. Like the guys with a little thingy has to have a huge truck and a huge dog and talks real loud. Then there's tons of gear, same thing.

There is so much you have wrong, I don't know where to start. Let's start with I have never been banned from TalkBass.com. And that's not going to ever happen either. Would some of you guys know a Fender if it slapped you in the face? There is no infringement. I love Fender, I just happen to make better basses today than they do.

I wish I had the time for an average of 3.7 posts a day, but I'd rather be riding my bicycle. the weather is great here, and all praises to the Creator!

Don't forget to check out my website if you have any questions.

Peace,
David

Hi I have a question for you. So I can be better educated in Fender basses what brand of neck is on the "Jaco" clone.
You say you make better basses then Fender...I've never played on of yours, but seriously they have some master craftsmen working there. Their custom shop makes some incredible guitars and basses....and they have major world artists with signature models and endorsements. You need to come down off your cloud.
P.S It doesn't really take that much time to post 3.7 posts a day. This one only took 3 minutes.:smug:

Remember I only did this to show you my bass, and how awsome it was. Sorry for all the trouble i made.

You have no reason to apologize, and I do hope you enjoy your bass when it gets to you. It's rather legendary around here now thanks to this thread.

Side note: Interestingly enough, Mr. Certain's statement that "I have never been banned from TalkBass.com. And that's not going to ever happen either." has been proven false, at least temporarily.

You guys blew this thing up, and i dont want to be a part of it. Please delete the picture of my bass if you kept it. Thanks alot.

1.) Enjoy your bass
2.) I don't think "guys blew this thing up" It actually educated me and others on Fender copyright and a "certain" builder.
3.) Closing the post and deleting your picture only gives more fuel to the controversy.
4.) Perhaps you have learned a lesson about "parts" basses and Fender clones.

Again enjoy making music.:)
