Basses with a forearm angle like this?

Working on a build, trying to figure out, aesthetically and functionally, how to do the forearm contour.. I don’t see a lot of instruments with this angular and mostly straight forearm contact area.

What have you seen in the wild that I can glean some ideas from?
Thanks!

Bitter sweet, pretty much spot on design, but no contour lol. That’s a nice looking bass though, reminds me of Roscoe Century.

For a proper bass that might even function as a forearm cut, just cutting out the space where there would be a contour- unfortunately the design I’m working on has the bridge set into the body further towards the neck more like a guitar, so I’ll actually need a bit of a shallow slope in.

Looking at your body shape has me thinking of Warrior Basses and also Lunar audio Alien Basses. Maybe a smidge of Roscoe as well.

What is your headstock plan? A big bevel would balance well with a compact headstock. If you are going 5 inline (I’m guessing it is a 5) maybe just smooth out what you have and go from there?

Idk, but it looks like a blast. All I am making these days is a bunch of unappreciated meals for bored kids.

This type of cutaway might be nice.

Ooh maybe it’s the lighting, but it almost looks kind of scooped or conclaves, that’s interesting.
I’m glad you said Roscoe and Alien Audio
-Roscoe, because a lot of the drafting of ergonomics of this was literally traced from my Roscoe- it’s basically a Century with different horns and a chopped off forearm
- Alien Audio because you may have just solved my problem; they aren’t quite so chopped off, but I have one I saved to drool at, and I think the forearm cutout would be pretty much exactly how I should approach this one

It’s (the alien audio) similar to what Beej (shout out) suggested in my build thread l.. he tends to give me perfect advice

edit: oh, and my headstock

it was supposed to be something a bit more, but I kinda biffed it lol. I will be doing a 3+2 slotted cut, stolen from and poorly imitating the aforementioned Beej

I gotta say, and this is ONLY based on my experiences....I have bigger forearms and cannot play a typical Ric or a Gretsch due to the relationship of the edge of the instrument to my right forearm. I’ve generally found “Jazz and Precision basses”, as well as their close cousins do not bother my forearms whatsoever. I’ve seen this extra-cut before and I’m not against it and and haven’t actually tried it....I guess I’m just not sure if it’s really necessary.
