Oh, chi-sonics are stock now? I thought they were still an "option"
Actually, I think you can get a pretty thick low end in the 80-100Hz range, but YMMV I suppose.
Really? I would. Heck, I usually have a high pass filter cutting everything below 60Hz on my bass. Everything below that just sounds like muddy, booming mush.Like I said, it's semantics: I agree you can get "thick" in the 80-100Hz range, I just wouldn't necessarily call that range the "low end" on a bass guitar.

I'd say low end: up to 250Hz (just to throw out an arbitrary number)
Low mid: 250Hz-600Hz
High mid: 600Hz-2KHz
High: 2KHz and up
I know that't not how everyone thinks though, nor is it how a lot of EQ equipment is set up.
Lots of Bongo love in here (hey, look at my username!) but sorry guys. Having owned both, a Bongo cannot compete with a G&L with MFD's for bottom end.

Sorry how about a G&L 1000.

I'll say the Ovation Magnum. Don't know about "punch", but it has a unique "compromise the structural integrity of the room you're in and whatever you're listening to the bass through" kind of enormous weight to the low end. I haven't put a finger on it, but it can produce such immense girth, even recorded, when compared to any other bass I've tried. They are quirky instruments, but have loads of character and can do things no other bass can - whether those things are what you're looking for is another matter.
