Basses with similar neck width and taper to Hofner?

As other hofner owners know the neck has a very different width and taper than other bases. Most basses get wider as they get closer to the body. The hofner stays the same with very little if any widening. It also has a smaller string spacing and nut width 42mm.

what other basses are similar to this?

Thanks a great question. One I've wondered about myself.

I haven't run across any, but keep checking for local basses that might fit the bill.
Perhaps other European basses: Framus, Vox, Hagstrom, and perhaps the Hofner copies.

Many '60's Japanese violin basses have necks patterned on the Hofner. I have a mid-'60's Japanese Orpheum bass with such a neck. And here's a Conrad violin bass currently listed for 0 (plus shipping to continental USA) on Reverb. ("Needs some TLC.") (Ad says that the E string sounds dead when tuned up to pitch, but I notice what looks like a mute lever incorporated into the bridge, so that might be the culprit.)

Carvin SB-40, as played by Bosco Mann from the Dap-Kings. These have Hofner necks.

Still looking for something with very little taper/flare out. I've got Vox, Hagstrom, Framus i'm looking into. Any other suggestions?

I guess a better way to put this is basses with a SMALLER neck heel than a fender.

The Epiphone Rumblekat (aka Allen Woody) is heavily based on the Hofner Club bass. It's semi-hollow with a petite neck. A friend of mine had one and I was surprised at the high quality considering the very reasonable price.

yeah i have a hofner already, i'm looking for a solid body bass with a different sound but with a similar neck. but it's kinda a fool's errand at this point

Why not stick with hofner?

They made a Galaxie bass a few years ago. It was a Made in China reissue of their '60s 185.
I had one several years ago and was pleased with the fit, finish, and sound.
Not sure of the model number, but they also made a 34" version.
