Basses with the most control knobs and switches.

Jeez, I wish I hadn't seen this right before bedtime! Nightmares now for sure!! (It took me about 4 hours to figure how to put a Les Paul type 3 way in a PJ bass) :bassist:

Seriously, Steve, your basses are always an inspiration! Keep up the good work!!

Thanks! The photo in your quote was for a 3 coil bass so it wasn't too bad. The other was for a six coil bass (63 possible combinations) and it was a bit of a nightmare. I think David Meadows may have regretted agreeing to do it that one and I was concerned that it wouldn't fit even in the enormous Warmoth cavity. Here's a few more pics of the guts for that one. Besides the normal preamp tone control module, there are four noise cancellation modules (two of which are stereo...so really six) and four phantom coils. I would like to have had a bypass for the NC system like the other one has, but it would have been almost impossible to build and definitely would not have fit the cavity.

I’ll play…….1978 Hamer QUADBASSES…the original 12-string bass that Tom Petersson made famous on Cheap Trick’s “Live at Budokan” LP. I actually sold the Cherryburst one to Petersson and he’s had it out on tour every night since!View attachment 4341793View attachment 4341794
I wonder how much that body style influenced the Status King bass body shape.
