It would be interesting to hear if any of the basses posted here since 2009 have been sold...
I prefer the older body shape as well.
This particular one actually left the factory in Leo’s car.
Leo gave it to a friend of my dad along with some other promotional instruments back around 1989/90. My dad’s friend ran a pretty prominent C&W bar/restaurant that Leo would frequent, had a lot of big acts come through, and Leo would give him some promotional instruments to give to performers that played there. My dad’s friend ended up not giving it to any artists, but gave it to me when he found out I had started playing. I’ve had it since 1994.
Plays well with this one (that doesn’t have as good of a backstory).

My 1960 Fender Precision. My number one since the early 70's .
I'd just like to know how many "forever" basses listed earlier in this thread (starting in 2009) have been sold?
Never say never, but since 2009, I still have:
1 Warmoth Jazz (1999)
1 Warmoth Gecko (2000)
1 Regenerate Guitar Works VRB-P4 (2008)
1 RGW/parts fretless 4 (2009)
I also have a G&L L2500 fretless that my wife gave me in 2010 as a 10th anniversary present (that's for sure a NEVER sell).
All of these still see regular and significant use. Several are ready to go at all times in my studio and I use them on tracks at home. Some have been on 60-70% of all the sessions I've done.
Of all the other numerous basses I own, those 5 listed above are probably still at the top of the "no plans to ever sell" pile. I have others that I don't intend to sell, but I'd mostly be less upset if I sold those than any of these. Mostly.

My EB-2 sure has not been. I won't get buried with it. That would be a waste. It has been joined by three more that will never be sold. The list:

What basses do I never plan on selling? Of the basses I currently own, my Satin Lake Placid Blue, Aguilar pup equipped, no greasebucket tone circuit, American Performer Precision PJ in the middle of the pic. I say currently own because I have a custom build that is weeks away from me picking it up. And some day when I can no longer physically play, I'll donate whatever basses I have left at that point to the Songbirds Foundation

It's not a big name brand, not the most expensive bass own. But it taught me the greatness of a 37 inch B, and modified so I can play the pups in series/parallel/inner/outer coils mode, all passive in VVT, it's my huckleberry!

This is Taz my 1983 Carvin LB50 Koa bass that has been my constant companion for 40+ years, together we have played on 5 of the 6 continents and as recently as last weekend. I often leave Taz in the case or bag just so my other basses will get some hand time as I have many #2 basses in the Bass Barn.
Lots of tonal possibilities and a stereo option too. Volumes, passive tones and coil taps, oh my. And yes I use all those knobs and switches to get different tones and colors ~ even the dread phase switch!!
No buckle rash here Taz still looks clean after being played almost every day for 40+ years. See the joining of three beautiful pieces of Koa.
Hard to see but the neck is beautifully flamed, every piece of Koa tells a different story.

I’ve talked about them before, but my two Walter Bass Co basses give me everything I want, were made by a small builder here in the US, and were affordable to boot. They’re never going anywhere.
Then, because it was a dream of mine and he’s my bass hero, my Geddy Lee is never going anywhere either.
And to be honest, the Rascal probably isn’t either. All four of the basses I currently own are “forever” basses in their own way.

I bought, and still own, a Fender Precision in 1969. It's been "resting" since I moved to 5 string basses in the 90's. We've been through so much together, I can't see me selling it. It was highly modded in the 80's. Sounds like a million dollars after adding the Barts, but original it ain't!
How could i sell my self designed Ritter Okon basses? Never gonna happen.
Oh no way I'd answer this question. WHY?: I see a guy on here who (years ago) said he'd never sell his Fender Road Worn Jazz bass. But I see it / him on Reverb trying to selling it right now. Well.... not kinda ....... he has it overpriced by $500 so HE still values it. But he will sell it.
