There's no way I am selling my Spector Rebop5. Its worth more to me than what I could sell it for, it's like the comfortable chair you have that your wife hates...but it has all the right "contours" . I'd never sell my Webster Signature, either.

Squier P, no idea of what exact model, but probably made in China or Indonesia. Must have bought it ~15 years ago.
It was and is an upgrade, believe it or not, from my previous Fender AV 57 P that I never found very good. Chose the Squier among dozens of basses, only because of how it sounded unplugged.
Then I modded it to my taste. There is almost only the wood pieces left of the original. Stripped the extremely thick finish and brushed on linseed oil paint (it's a bit translucent, but it's not really visible in the photo). Moved the tuning peg holes to the "correct" position by plugging the old ones, and painted the headstock matching to the body. Changed to some tuners from a different bass for some reason I don't remember. Fender CS pickup, red pearl pickguard (recent change), heavily rolled edges on the fingerboard, that is also dyed darker. Badass bridge, gunstock oil finish on the back of the neck. Probably more stuff that I can't remember.
It sounds and plays like a dream, but looks quite crappy in person.

Sometimes I get an itch for a "nicer" P, like CS or real vintage. Not sure why, and every time I've been able to talk myself out of it since this is the best P I've ever played. Why change just because it doesn't look 100% "correct" (much sharper contours on the body)?
If I end up buying a finer P, I won't sell this. It's just not worth anything to anyone else and I highly doubt that I will quit playing it.

And I'm 99% certain that I will keep this guy, but only because it would be so hard to replace it. I've only ever seen pictures of another G3 with the same pick guard/clear pickup cover combo.

lol 16 years later Ive sold 2/3 of these.

The picture links are dead but I assume the twins were my 78 jazz and fretless P. Sold the fretless P when I got an upright. The G3 I sold, bought another more than a decade later, also sold that, then had a Serek L3 made to match the original black/maple G3.

fender is my first ever bass (mim), not worth selling due to limited value and history. You might get me to trade the super j for another, but man it is a great bass.

Oh no way I'd answer this question. WHY?: I see a guy on here who (years ago) said he'd never sell his Fender Road Worn Jazz bass. But I see it / him on Reverb trying to selling it right now. Well.... not kinda ....... he has it overpriced by $500 so HE still values it. But he will sell it.

Or maybe he's placating a wife, girlfriend, etc...
I have it for sell, but no one's biting!

Its not rare and won't command a big price but I would put forward my '09 Fender US jazz because its stock and sounds and feels great.

It's 10lbs, so I may have to sell it if my body gives out, but I'd consider rigging up a guitar stand before that.

Perfect geometry all around and unmatched sounds.
Only thing I'd like to do is switch it from series to parallel. It already has 3-way switches for each pickup going between outer/inner coils for single coils and then series.

The harder I dig in with my plucking hand, the nastier it sounds.

The only one definitely on my "Never Sell" list is the pink-ish/coral-ish early 80s Schecter Venus B/4 second from the right in this pic:

It's from the era when Schecters were made in USA by David Schecter and Tom Anderson, and, as I've oft said here on TB, it's as boutique as a "parts bass" can be; I will put this puppy up against any passive Sadowsky, Mike Lull, Alleva-Coppolo, Valenti, or Fender Custom Shop instrument. Totally killer Jazz Bass clone. You can have this bass when you pry it from my cold dead hands.

There's a really good chance I will "Never Sell" the Steinberger L-2 (far right) and the Modulus Graphite Quantum-6 SPX (second from the left), as those basses sound amazing, have a long history with me (I've owned both since they were new, 1982 and 1988 respectively), and were used on lots of milestone projects and albums. Very special to me, and uniquely intertwined with my personal voice on the instrument. Probably never sell them. But I suppose I can imagine a point in my dotage where I'm hardly playing bass anymore and the resale value of these basses might be better put towards, I dunno, elder care? Drugs? So never say "Never".

I will "Never Sell" the Rob Allen MB-2 (fifth from the left) because my wife gave me that bass for our fifth wedding anniversary. But we did just complete our Last Will & Testament, and in the event that I die that bass is going to a producer/friend who has been begging me to sell him that bass for decades because it sounds so good. And he'll definitely outlive me, so, enjoy it buddy!

Pretty sure I'll "Never Be Able To Sell" the Warmoth Frankenbass fretless 5-string (third from left) but that's a whole different kind of "Never"

This was a damaged bright blue VM PJ that I got for cheap. Stripped it, plugged the cavity, and repainted it. Ive had a lot of P basses over the years but this one isn't going anywhere. 7.9Ibs , resonant, punchy and plays real nice.

Beautiful collection, and I would love to try that Epic out! I tried an Essence, and liked it, but didn’t love it. (Preferred my Ricks).
So, 2 questions- what’s the weight? And does it balance well on a strap?
Also, that’s a gorgeous S model 4003. Wish they made it in a satin finish like the 4003SW.

I'ts easy for me to list all of those basses I'll never sell. I even have a pic of them:

My current stable of four gets me the sound in my head and it works for everything I need it to work for.
I'm still practicing, and I'm still making progress, though.
It might well be that I'll find a bass that suits my needs better than my current ones, and then
I might buy that bass, and then one of the current ones gets sold.


I've stopped keeping gear around for sentimental reasons.
There are more great basses out there than I could ever hope to play in my lifetime.

Beautiful collection, and I would love to try that Epic out! I tried an Essence, and liked it, but didn’t love it.

The weight is 3,87 Kg = 8.53 lbs and absolute no problems with neckdive........ with my Minotaur Deluxe Classic strap.

The Rick (2025 model) is absolute awesome....haptik, playability, sounding and look..... 10 from 10 points !

I've posted here several months ago and can't remember my photos.

I have about 6 basses that I'll not sell.

This one would be #2, no seller. An all original February 1966 CAR P. Bought it from the grandson of the original owner. Zero fret wear. The truss rod was never touched until I bought it.
