Bassist with most UNIQUE tone

Bob Daisley off of the first two Ozzy records that tone is very unique and I recognize it instantly.

Ryan Martinie from Mudvayne. That Warwick growl with a little fret noise is unmistakable

Bootsy, bobba! James Brown called it "finger-poppin' bass," and that was before he started slapping and using effects. I've never mistaken Bootsy's playing for anyone else's, nor have I ever mistaken anyone else's playing for Bootsy's.

+1. Eveen though I don`t rank Fieldy as "one of the best", he IS one of the most distinct players out there. You could not mistake him for anyone else, that`s for sure ! I would also have to say the guy from The Raconteurs. And the one of the most distinct bassists for just straight-up rock I`ve heard in a long time is the guy that played on Duff McKagen`s "Loaded" side project (no, Duff didn`t play bass). THAT guy is friggin awesome ! Both of them have a little fuzz on their sound, with alot of mids that really cut through the mix.
