I actually posted a thread a few months ago about getting a cat, and guess what - I have one now!! 
This is Dexter (after the TV show) aka Mr. Wiggles (he wiggles a bit before pouncing on whatever he's chasing). I rescued him from the Milwaukee animal shelter. His info says he's a Russian Blue, but after comparing with pictures and typical breed personality, I disagree. I find that he's more Korat/Domestic Shorthair.

Girl is in the forground and weighs in at 17 LBS.
Charley in the back ground weighs in at 26 LBS. Girl is a large cat part Maine Coon. Charlie makes her look like a half grown kitten. neither are fat.
Charley is like street smart. Girl is book smart if that makes sence. She was a great moma had two litters one of 8 the other 9. She would feed them in shifts.
Charley would roll over and play dead at least untill my dog died. He woulnt do it after that. Yes thats him with his mouth shut but his fangs hang out. Sabre tooth kitty.
A full grown Racoon attacked me a few years ago. Before it got to me Charley intervened killed the thing and drug it off and ate it.
I tained these cats to come when I whistle. A few months ago some people stole Charley. Since then when I whistle for my cats I wait to see if he comes up over the embankment and whistle a few extra times.

Here's a couple of photos of our guys from a year or so back:
They're both rescue cats. The darker one is Mr Prowley, the lighter is Mischief. He's always too caught up in existential crises to live up to the full metal potential of his name. She's the most curious, playful, and in-love-with-life kitten I've ever known. The SPCA found her half-way gone, curled up next to two dead littermates and nursed her back to health. When we got her we didn't know if she'd make it a year, but she's now three and beating up her bigger brother on a regular basis.

Came home from work to find this today. My basement is getting too humid when I'm away and AC is off so I hurriedly laid these basses on her favorite couch. Or maybe she just missed me. NOT.

Target, Frrito, Lulu, and Ellie. All rescues. Target was my mother's cat. I took him when she passed away. Frrito and Lulu are brother and sister I rescued along with one other now deceased (PuttPutt) from a parking lot. I later thought since I found them in a parking lot, I should name them Bently, Porsche, and Mercedez. Ellie we rescued after we lost PuttPutt.
I don't have pictures available, but I will get them when I get home. One photo shows Frrito napping behind my basses while I am practicing.
And, I'm sure all bassists who serve cats know to keep their cases closed when not in use.

This is Sissy, our 18 year old cat that only sleeps and eats anymore. She's retired!
This is Trixie. She adopted us. A little over two years ago she discovered our patio and decided to make it her home. I'm guessing the family that had her moved away and when it came time to leave, she was not around. She was probably less than a year old then. She is a bird and Gecko killing machine. Of course she brings them over and leaves them on the patio. We've had her to the vet for a checkup and shots. Most evenings she comes in for some "lap time" and to play a bit. But she enjoys being free.
I've never had an animal adopt me before. Although she's free to leave anytime, and often does, but every morning she's sitting on the patio waiting for breakfast.

The Diva is a big fan of mine 
She seems to like my pipe tobacco and is always there when I enjoy a bowl. Oddly hummingbirds like Altadis Vanilla Custard too. They buzz around within a few feet of me in the spring time when I'm outside.
This is how she gives kisses. She "mouths" my nose.
I am not allowed to have pictures alone. . .
For my gals FB page a few years ago. The Diva was not amused.

She is 24 now and still amazingly healthy. She just had to start taking medicine for her thyroid a few months ago as she lost a lot of weight. The Vets LOVE her.

my boy Solomon is 13 and has hyperthyroidism....been on meds 3 weeks

Do you have the med you wipe in the ear? Our gal allows it like a champ. We were worried but needn't have been. She was wasting away and now looks healthy again.
I will ask at the vet today.....as I have to pill him twice a day....such a pain
