Also does it matter what OBP-3 I get? Or are they all J bass compatible? (I.E the one with he stacked knobs vs the seperate eq control) And does it come with a master volume knob? Sorry for all the noobness this will be my first bass modification so thanks for bearing with me!

bassically you get which ever one you like of fits your needs. I got an OBP-3 SK for my Squire jazz deluxe active V. It will be Volume -Blend - Bass & Treble Stacked, mid and then a mid frequency selector switch.
These are your choices for the OBP-3, but can be wired any way you want.
OBP-3TK: Includes separate Treble, Mid, and Bass pots, and black mini-toggle switch for Midrange frequency selection.
OBP-3TK/PP: Includes separate Treble, Mid, and Bass pots. Mid pot is push/pull for Midrange frequency selection.
OBP-3SK: Includes stacked Treble/Bass pot, Mid pot, and black mini-toggle switch for Midrange frequency selection.
OBP-3SK/PP: Includes stacked Treble/Bass pot and separate Mid pot. Mid pot is push/pull for Midrange frequency selection.
