I'm not so sure that was the intent, though it was the result. Reading their ad copy they always made a big deal about how large the driver magnets were and how much power the cabs were rated to handle. The inference was that the larger the magnets and the higher the power rating the louder and lower the cab could go. That's not true, it's actually the opposite, but the average consumer doesn't know that. It was akin to saying the larger the engine the faster the vehicle will go. But a 170HP sports car will beat a 1,000HP ten ton truck every time.

This aligns with my experience too-it seemed like they advertised getting a 'bigger' sound out of a smaller cab, for instance, I had the 210 model, and they stated it could go deeper than your standard 210, which I still would agree with, however the cab was oversized and used heavier speakers to accomplish this. The cab might have had similar to a 410, but the cab was the same size as a 410 anyways, so to me, it was kind of a wash.

1000 watts into it wouldn't hurt it at all...it just might be a little quiet

Indeed. My point was that yeah, they can take more power than an Ampeg 810, but they also won't be very loud without a very large amount of power, unlike the regular old Ampeg 810.

Obviously, since I don't run kilowatt+ amps, wouldn't really be that great a cab for me... or, as it turns out, most people.
