Bassplaying and rings

I wear a pretty good sized wedding band, and it has never bothered me when playing. I only take it off to sleep, shower, or wash my hands.

Anyway, my ring is just slightly too large so I can remove it if I have to poke around in electrical panels or electronic equipment.

What are you trying to say with "poking around in electrical panels" ? Your wife lets you get away with it? Is this some type of sick sexual analogy?

Billy Cox used to wear a couple huge gold rings when he played. As did the Bass player from the Wailors

The ring is on my left hand, and it's not huge. It just gets in the way when doing left hand slaps and when muting the strings. I play with my fingers close to the fretboard (not with my finger tips like double bass players) and then it sometimes hits the strings.....

I stopped wearing my rings years ago, the one on my left hand use to bang against the edge of the fretboard,and
the one I used to wear on my right, would bang against the
the body when I slapped & pop. One went to the Pawn shop
and I got $65 and the other I still have.

I've been wearing my wedding band for 34 years and I don't even know it's there. I only take it off if I'm doing any "grungy" work, oil change, brakes, etc. It doesn't get in my way while playing, though.....but, hey...that's just me!

Yea, I leave mine on when I play. Been married for 13 years now and it has never bothered me.

Maybe get into the habit of hanging the ring off a necklace whenever you're at band practice or a gig, so that way you'll always have it with you and it won't get in the way of your playing.

That's what I do when I'm drumming. I can't wear it when I play at all. It actually hurts. The wife wasn't so keen on it at first, but after she saw the nasty blister I got once by keeping it on she agreed it was better.

After I got married I thought it would be a problem, but I don't even notice it when I'm playing. Of course when it's off I feel naked...go figure.

The first couple of weeks after I got married it felt weird, but now it feels weird to have it off. I keep it on while playing, it doesn't bother me.

The necklace idea seems pretty cool. If ever I found it uncomfortable, I think I'd probably do that. Then again I'm 17 so I've got a while to consider it!

I've never had a problem playing with my wedding ring on. Just hasn't bothered me much. Now, if I'm chopping wood or swinging a golf club it has to come off.

The first wedding ring I had was too thick for me and it got in the way of my bass playing, typing, etc. It was a bit much to get used to. We traded that one in to get one that is thinner and it's no problem when I play.
