Let me preface this by saying I have no actual jazz experience or training (as I'm sure it will become painfully apparent)! My cover band has been in a long slump so I have been spending my time at home recording original versions of some of my favorite jazz tunes. Not sure if the end result would really be considered jazz per say.. maybe more Rock Jazz... Funk Jazz... Punk Jazz... Bastardized Jazz!
Anyway I have been having a blast and have actually been learning to read (slowly) sheet music to play the lead lines. I know its not legit jazz but its pretty cool. Now I just need to find some jazz cats that are willing to take the classics and bastardize them!
