I've wondered about the Skinyourskunk stickers. Thanks for posting.

Are the edges staying down? Tell us more about the process, if you don't mind. I'm very interested in these but have been waiting to see them on someone else's instrument before shelling out the cash for my own.

Do you have any pics that show the sticker either closeup or at an angle so the edges show?

It's only been on a couple days, so I'm not sure about how long they last. The edge aren't coming up so far, but I haven't gigged it.

I don't have other pics yet but can take some. Honestly, at least for figuring the process out, I think the skins are much better suited to a slab-bodied instrument where you've got a clear line to cut at. I had a hard time cutting the skin to match the curve on a rounded body like this one. I also ignored the advice on the site to use a NEW Xacto knife blade. Now I know why they said that. My edges are not very even, as you'll see when I can get some detail pics up. Of course, I'm also pretty much all thumbs anyway. I'm OK with how it is - I'm really thinking about how it looks from ten or twenty feet away, not close-up examination. It's a step up from slapping a bumper sticker on it, but it's not a $400 professional refinish.

The pickups were the toughest area. I'm also no good with a soldering iron, so I didn't remove the electronics; I just unscrewed them, cut slots in the skin, and pulled the pickups through. Then laid the skin down, smooth it out, and cut around the routs before screwing the pickups back down. The adhesive keeps wanting to stick to everything and for a while I thought it would become a horrid mess of wrinkles. It did eventually smooth out, though.

I have used these!

I did the Jenny Lynn Tele and SG in the Customer Gallery. The stickers are pretty darn good, and I had no trouble applying them. A quite novel way to customize a guitar or bass.

That is very cool...a bit like a bomber girl pinup. I put a bomber girl on all my mountain bike frames to protect me and ward off trees so maybe you are now protected from a flying bottle or microphone shock!

These things generally fall flat for my eyes but not this time, well done! And I think the toe of your shoe really makes the composition of your still life pop. Perhaps you should work the serial number into an ISBN or if you want to be old school DDC....
