So I've posted before on TB that someone will have to pry my Yamaha BB415 from my cold dead fingers. Which is true. However, the plain red finish never really did it for me. Kinda boring, compared to a great wood grain or a nice burst pattern or just a more interesting color.
So I got a custom vinyl adhesive - basically a giant sticker - from skinyourskunk.com. It's a picture of Batgirl by Adam Hughes. The backstory: Batgirl's secret identity is as a librarian, and as my wife is a librarian, she's always been into Batgirl. It's a reference to her.
At first I thought I would use the skin over the whole body of the bass. But I wasn't so sure about all yellow. Instead, I cut it into stripes, to alternate with the original red finish. It's definitely more attention-getting now. Going to try it out at a gig or three and decide if I like it enough to keep. What do y'all think?
EDIT: also on display for your perusal: a Jeopardy ballpoint pen, my junk mail, a broken pool filter pump, a copy of the Hippo (local free paper), and a bowl of nectarines. Enjoy the still life...
