BBE Sonic Maximizer- the horses mouth

Thanks for your input...I think I'll have to stay with two separate units and not switch to the MaxCompressor, as that would then put the Sonic Maximizer ahead of the dbx 120A in my signal chain...

Just in update, in case anyone is interested, I did end up getting the MaxCom about 6 months ago. I put the 120a first, than the MaxCom channel one to channel two, depending on the gig I'll either do the second Maximizer alone or both (both really "thickens" up the tone a lot!) IIRC, the Maximizer is after the compressor, so it is indeed last and cleans up any hiss in the loop, which is indeed minimal. I still have the 362 and the dbx 266xl, which I'm going to wire up like a MaxCom to use as a back up unit and/or with my "practice" rig.

I'm extremely happy with it so far.

I seem to be having the same problem as alot of people here. I added the 362 to my rig, and now i have this ungodly hiss. It is the last in my chain (Korg DTR 1, DBX166 comp, Sansamp RBI, SM362) I have tried numerous things from rolling off the mids and highs, but that is detrimental to my overall sound...you have any suggestions?

quick question for Djnylonpants,

Is the Bmax-t much different than the 482i? I need a bass preamp, but i also wanna send guitar, vocals, home theater through a BBE. Think I'll be ok with just the bmax-t? thanks.

You might be out of luck. Djnylonpants (Sudd Levison of BBE) hasn't posted to TB since Dec 04. Someone else might have an answer, however.

Gosh, this is an old thread... Didn't think to look as the thread is about BBE latest offerings. Any advice at all would be much appreciated. thanks

I'm pretty sure they're very different. The bmaxt is a preamp with a maximizer built in, the 482i is just a maximizer.

I have a question and I'm not sure if it was already covered, and I apologize if it was.

How well does the BBE Sonic Stomp floor pedal function as a direct recording preamp for bass without any amp/cab simulation? Personally all I would have to record with would be Acoustica Mixcraft, the pedal, and my bass, and I'm not sure without hearing any A/B's if it would be worth the investment.

Pretty sure we have access to it, probably a special order...the Canadian distributor was Kief Music, haven't heard that that's changed, so maybe contacting them would be your best bet as searching for a local dealer, but definitely your local L&M should be able to help you as well!

The Sonic Stomp is just a Sonic Max in a pedal. I believe that the output is still instrument level and wouldn't work as a preamp.

(My first post - be gentle) I was so frustrated with trying to find a competent bass player that I went out and bought a bass and amp. I stumbled across a comment about the Sonic Maximizer in these forums so I researched then bought a DI-100 on eBay for $45.00. I love it and so does my band. Mine only hisses briefly after the note stops then goes dead quiet so at least I know it is working.
