Beardly Customs Carl Thompson tribute fretless 6 string

as a friend said, "building a CT tribute is a right of passage for a luthier". after fighting with myself, i have decided to do a 6 string CT tribute. body woods: cocobolo, african mahogany, bubinga, padauk, and wenge. the body alone has 25 pieces of wood. the neck will be african mahogany and curly maple with a cocobolo fingerboard. 36" scale, fretless set neck.

umm... WOW! That thing is a beast! CT basses always remind me of Les Claypool, and that one is NICE!

On a side note. How good has Carl's work been for our community? He is the Grandfather of boutique bass building in so many ways and all the top builders were influenced by him. In a few centuries time, his basses will be Strads I reckon.

Wow, I must have missed that memo! Never built one, and don't have any plans on doing so.

I got the head cut out. the shape is classic C T even with the top curve cut at an angle.

I think you should have went with your own head stock. It would have worked well with the CT body.

Yeah...... I fought with myself over that. But, i didn't think my headstock would work with another luthiers body shape.
