Rachmaninoff, Vocalise. Pretty easy to learn, it is short, not very difficult on the fingering, but hard to play musically.

Does anyone know where to get a copy of the sheet music for bass and PIANO for Bottesini-Allegro Di Concerto 'Alla Mendelssohn'? I have the book for bass and orchestra, but the recording I heard on the Bottesini concerto cd had a piano accompaniment..

I think all pieces of Koussevitzky. Maybe sonatas by Marcello. And my favourite - the first concerto of Dittersdorf (Krebs 171).

Quarrington does a fantastic version of this, though to be fair it IS and orchestration.

Suite in the Olden Style for Solo Contrabass - Hans Fryba

some movements of this are beautiful. Isn't a transcription, was written for bass.

I love the Bottesini Elegy in D, but I dig that schmaltzy, over the top stuff sometimes.
