Beck Tour Rig Rundown

Just thought I'd share this in the chat:

Justin Meldal-Johnsen on Instagram: "BORING ALERT: Hey here’s a rig rundown from the Beck tour, buddies. Hit me with any questions below. Thanks as always to my excellent @fender & @daddarioandco fams along with all the other cool folks I’m fortunate to work with. Dad’s gonna go get ready for the show now. EDIT: forgot to mention the loop switcher on the bottom of my board. That’s just a Gig Rig thingy with 10 loops. It’s organized to correspond exactly with the signal flow going right to left across the bottom, then same across the top. It’s got really nice switches, but the blue LED’s suck. Anyhoo, I’ll check back periodically to answer more questions."

My wife and I are taking our boys to see Beck in Toronto and I am beyond excited. It's my boys first big concert and my wife's first time seeing Beck with this amazing line up. We can't wait!!

The show was absolutely amazing! If you're on the fence with going to see them on this leg get off and buy tickets!

Highly recommended just for the musicianship of him and the entire band. Tight as a drum and a phenomenal show.

Apologies if this was addressed and I missed it. Regarding your DI are you running that clean or with dirt boxes and fx?

If clean, curious if FOH is doing anything extreme at FOH with high and low pass filters to grab low end from the clean DI and dirt from the amps or essentially blending. And if blending, how they might navigate any phase issues, if they do at all.

Sorry for the long question just navigating some of these challenges myself and curious to see how you and your team have best addressed them.

DI is dirty post FX so we get those harsh/bright/spitty sounds that can only come from dirt/fuzz going straight into a DI. Yes, our FOH Sean "Sully" Sullivan is doing various filtering, but nothing extreme from what I can remember. He has phase adjustment tools at his disposal as well.

Yeah no sweat. I just got real tired of my narration (I get so nervous then end up sounding super stiff) and plus I f'ed up a few descriptives, left a few things out, etc. I'll do a better one someday.
