Beck's new album?

When does it come out? I dig the Timebomb single on it. How much did you play on it?

Does he ever record onto tape instead of going digital?

Tjis new album comes out this summer some time. It's not done yet, so I don't know how much I'll play on it; as of yet, I didn't play a whole lot, because Dangermouse (the producer) programmed a lot of the bass. This album in particular will be all ProTools, but Beck absolutely loves going to tape. We do it all the time. Did some sessions (for indeterminate release) about five months ago that were only to tape and very live. Extremely experimental and noisy, so a bit different than Sea Change and Mutations, which were recorded to tape.

i'd be really interested in those experimental tape releases. do you have any idea what they would be called?

They're just recordings...it's miles away from being called anything. People might not hear them for years, for all I know. We do sessions all the time for a few days at a time in different cities and different studios, and it remains to be seen where things like that will surface.

dangermouse, huh? i'm definitely curious about how that turns out. i'm sure it'll be great. only problem might be listening to it and thinking to myself, "that doesn't sound like what jmj would have done."

I'm down with that too, phxlbrmpf...that's my s*%t!

And don't worry about minimal jmj bass stuff on this record, mattq, it'll be hot. Danger and Beck together is a winning combo.

I'd rather play synth anyway. ;-) Kind of joking, but not totally.
