Yeah. Use the click at first to help you internalize the groove, and then periodically to check how well you've done that.
That's a long-term thing! What I mean is that for a beginner the click builds a sense of groove, and for the more advanced player it provides quality control on that sense.
Um...I'm aware that some folks disagree with mambo4 and me on this. But I'm inclined to do what works for me--and I ain't a n00b to bass playing.
