Behold, The Hideous Claw!

I think you have now officially the most incredible bass collection on earth :bassist:

Indeed - simultaneously the most stunning and frightening basses of all time. (Edit: Turner's doubleneck and a couple of its friends are still in that category as well, but each of JB's are so vastly different in look...)

Now that I've enjoyed a Conklin 8 with my own two hands, this kind of stuff inspires me with GAS now, on top of the visual appeal.

Jean - I think your Joust bass may be my favorite instrument of all time, to look at. I'd like a 7 or 8 string with that Joust inlay, but you've already done it. And Robotron, for example, doesn't have graphics that make for that cool an inlay, dammit.

But the Hideous Claw is beautiful as well. Definitely must be at least *associated* with Alembic somehow.

Please note: I want a shot at that Joust bass if you ever sell. So badly I can taste it.

That is the most incredible piece of wood working I've ever seen in my whole life! Wow that is the most amazing bass on the planet! Who's the master craftsman?

Oh and by the way:

Nice Bongo! :D

How much do you spend on strings a year?

So Jean it looks like you're gradually moving towards a Novak style fretboard with the slanted frets.

Is it a plan on your part to make a change or just coincidence that both Joust and Hideous Claw have them?

It seems that with so many strings so close together, playing with both hands, that it would get even more confusing with the angled frets!

What an incredible instrument! Like everyone else, can't wait for video and to hear what you think of it!

Well, I don't think that thing lives up to it's hideous name in the least, I think it is DAMN sweet looking!!!!

Didn't you say something at one time about removeable body parts or something allong those lines???? or was that just some mumbo-jumbo to throw us off the scent?

Really? Who would do this kind of custom job at Alembic and if it is an Alembic, shouldn't it have an Alembic logo on it?

An amazing bass. I thought that the Alembic Series II 4 strings started at like $15 K?

New house to rob. Located in Bay Area. Security minimal. Basses maximal. ;)

I dig it. I get the distinct impression that your "fan" is a master builder at Alembic--all of the signs are certainly there.

Enjoy!
