Behringer amps?

As I'm sure you've noticed, Behringer seems to illicit some emotions here on TB...

I had the BXR1800H amp head and had zero issues whatsoever. It was a great, versatile amp head. Especially for $179. I only sold it because I downsized to a Shuttle.

I have also played through a 4500 that was part of an abused back line rental at a rehearsal studio. That box was physically beat to he!!, but performed flawlessly.

No experience with cabs, but I see lots of Gaillien Krueger cabs put in situations that require a cab to work under less than perfectly maintained conditions...

O.K MOD my bad. Not 2. I re-read and it was 4 out of 25 that recommended the behringer, Even you do NOT like it.
Please leave the MOD stuff out. I am allowed to have a regular conversation in Amps aren't I?

What I was saying was that there are a few in this thread that have posted positive experiences with them. There is also the Behringer Club thread that has tons of Talkbass members that really like there Behringer gear. I'm just saying.

Finally, yes, I truly loathe Behringer but I won't go in to it here. ;)

Never argue with a kitten clutching an AK. :hiding:

I have a Behringer Amp.
And it's alright for practicing at home. But never play with it Live.
The sound is just horrible with high volume. No Low's at all!

An other problem with it is that when I set my sounds at home.
It always is totally different then on another amp.

I used to have the BX4500H head and had no problems with volume or reliability. Mind you, I also had a Sansamp BD and Ibanez PD-7 in front of it. :smug:

I ended up selling it when I switched from bass to guitar (now I'm switching back again) and although they are quite inexpensive, I had to fight pretty hard to get a tone I liked out of it, so I think I'll skip them this time around. All in all though, if you're on a very tight budget and can't find much of anything used locally that you can afford, the Behringer amps are not that bad in a pinch.

We have a Behringer PA and are having issues with both the PMP 5000 head and the B215 cabinets. The head literally had seven connections that weren't connected at the factor. Now the output for one channel (powered) keeps cutting out. The speaker almost new was rattling, opened the cab, and a capacitor fell out!! Looks like we'll be buying backup amps and cabs...we will be purchasing Crown amps and may stay with the Behringer speakers. My guitarist uses a Behringer cab, but uses Peavey and Marshall heads. IMHO the speakers are just fine (hard to screw up) but the electronics have issues. Extended warranties are a good idea with Behringer.

Well you know.... There's people who have good experiences with any piece of gear. I feel Peavey has always had some pretty solid stuff.

My Baby Rig is a Behringer V-AMP Pro modding preamp. I bought it used for $100 and it emulates about 25 different amps. I usually flip it between the SVT and SVT2 positions depending on my mood.

It does have a very slight digital noise when you aren't playing, but its not too loud. I drive a pair of Peavey PA amps with it and hook whatever size cabs I need out of my AMPEG collection.

SO for a Behringer / Peavey / AMPEG amplifier it cooks pretty good and the head only cost me $1330 to build complete. Sounds just like my big AMPEG unit....

Would I buy a Behringer AMPLIFIER? No. Not with other offerings available. There's just too much bad press. But I needed a preamp and this thing was priced right and has worked very nice.

You might be young, but with just a little creativity you could build a very powerful and righteous amplifier. Then hang it on some great speakers as you go...

This V-AMP PRO and the CS-800S amp will drive ANYTHING up to an 810 speaker. I generally use my 410 and just one amp for practice.

I have a BX4500H on top of a Kustom 215H Groove Bass cab. I get great tone and power out of this head. I play with two Schecter Studios (5 and 8) and a Carvin custon with an 18 volt Aguilar preamp.......this head is a clean as a whistle. The only complaint I have isn't with the head...I need a second cab with 2 tens for the upper end. I recently played a gig with multiple bands and all of the other bassists with Ampegs were shocked at how good this amp played out. (BTW....if I could afford the Ampeg I would go for it).

I have a Behringer BX1800 180 watt 1x15" Amp, it works great with no problems....but being that I'm not stupid, I did take out the tweeter horn and use that space as a vent hole because there is no vent hole in the box. Without a vent hole you will blow your driver every time. After I did that, this amp rocks the house (I also made a new face for the amp to see the speaker). I use 7 different Behringer pedals plus the amp (after mod.) and have had no proplems with any of them. All in perfect working order and everything sounds great.
Here's what I use...(effects are in the order used)

Peavey P Bass
Dean ZBX Bass

Korg-GA40 (Chromatic Tuner)
Behringer-TU100 (Chromatic Tuner)
Behringer-CL9 (Compressor / Limiter)
Behringer-BLE100 (Bass Compressor / Limiter / Enhancer)
Behringer-FX600 (Multi-FX)(Flanger, Chorus, Phaser, Delay, Tremolo, Pitch Shifter)
Behringer-BOD100 (Bass Overdrive / Distortion)
Behringer-NR100 (Noise Reducer)
Behringer-BEQ700 (7 Band Bass Graphic Equalizer / Booster)
Behringer BX1800 (180 Watt 1x15")

I've had my Behringer amp since about last July, I've never had one problem with it, I love the tone and I even left it in my dad's truck for the entire winter and it still works perfectly. Now I know what you're thinking, what kind of dufus leaves an amp in a truck during winter? My answer is: A very lazy one. Also, just to emphasize that, I live in canada and the winter was really cold. My amp is a 180 watt 1x15 and was relatively cheap for that big of a combo amp.

EDIT: Also, I always max out the volume, and still no problem. :P

Yes, I abuse my amp alot.

Unless your dad's truckbed is covered, ironically, if you had done the same here, it probably wouldn't have survived. Our winter isn't nearly as cold as Canada's, but it's quite wet. Lots of chilly rain, which, I hear, isn't that great for amplifiers...

To the OP

I had that same amp and sent it back within 3 days because i was not impressed. Im pretty sure the wiring was bad on it because the it gave a hiss that was louder than the actual sound it was putting out.

Iv also owned a behringer 4x10, cant remember which one, i just remember it was ratted for 1000watts.

Which was a joke because i got an ampeg b2re after i sent the behringer head back and i blew the speakers in the cab after like 4 months.

So i would say try your luck else where
