Behringer amps?

I have the same head ur bass head ur lookin at. No complaints there. I also got the 1x15 cab that goes with that 4x10. The 1x15 blew on me twice. its sitting in the back storage room collecting dust. So i would recomend saving up some money and not getting a behringer. They suck.

Lucky here too.... its funny cause I just got a call from our soundman who is using our PA this weekend for another band who are friends of ours, and he asked if he could use my Behringer BX4500 and Hartke VX215 cab for their bass player cause the other bands bass player has a rig that sounds like Cream of Ca-Ca.
I gig my Behringer about 2-3 times a month and it kicks booty every night.... go figure

I've bought many pieces of Behringer gear over the years and I've found that their products are all over the board in terms of what you get for the money. I've been disappointed with some of it and sold it off but I've been pleased with other pieces and I still use them and am happy with them.

Should you get Behringer, at best, you will have an entry level unit that will perform adequately to your needs, provided you don't expect too much from it - at a far lower price than any other new gear you can buy. At worst, you will get a unit that doesn't perform the way you want it to, or maybe even break. This is probably unlikely and I think Behringer quality control is a lot better than their reputation, but there is no escaping the fact that you aren't going to get top performance and durability with gear that is so cheap.

I would say a Behringer bass amp is an OK purchase for someone just starting out who has to be frugal with his money. But definitely give consideration to some of the other options that have been listed above. Particularly Peavey, Hartke and GK.

I only have a crappy 20 watt combo ampfrom Austin, so i really need a new amp. I should have posted a link about the Acoustic stack:

My budget is about $ 400-roughly $500. Someone pointed out the Kustom Groove; that would be perfect except its on clearence so i don't know if MF will still have them, and i would prefer to get it before May & June, becuase i've got some school gigs i can jump on in those monthes. I thought GK but bass stuff is just SOO damn (sry for cussing, mommy and daddy) expensive. Being a kid SUCKS: you can't afford anything, you can only gig like 4 times a year, and your parents tell you you don't need a nice $ 500 bass because you already have a less than $ 200 pile of poop.

Another thing: i can't save money. I got my budget from careful saving and Christmas money. My allowence is only $ 3 and i rarely ever get paid.

I own a Behringer GX110 guitar amp which is wonderful. I've used a 30 Watt Behringer bass amp combo which sounded great but the speaker was not very durable (never played volume over 7). Behringer makes great sounding gear; their Achilles' heel is erratic QC. I've used Behringer mixers and DI's that stood up to years of abuse without fail and brand new PA gear that blew up within hours of unpacking fresh from the box.

Be on guard and test out any gear before buying if possible. Some discontinued amps from Crate (BX series), Ashdown, and some others can be found at discount and can be great buys.

I guess that's because you don't read what people say.

Really, well perhaps it is YOU that does not read what people are saying. thus far in this thread 2 people said something positive. You are a genius, do the math. and I said I have never "HEARD" anything positive, I never said "READ".

Heard vs Read? Really? :eyebrow: Also, you obviously have not read every response before posting that as more than two people have related positive experiences with Behringer products.

I don't like Behringer for many reasons but I do acknowledge that there are some people who have had great experiences with them and actually like them.

7th grade, great time to be in a band.

I started my first band in the 6th grade. I remember that feeling when after a few practices of hearing things fall into place. We had a really talented piano player, we played Function at The Junction in a Talent Show.

I have the combination of head/cab you are looking at in the first two links. Behringer are ok, though the only reason I got it was I needed a loud amp for the money.

They sound average, if you could afford a Hartke I'd go for that instead (or one of the links on the first page). Octave divider on the Behringer is cool though :)

With $400-$500 to spend, you will certainly do better than your current amp. Can you get down to the shops and try out some of these options to see what works for you?

Remember, this isn't a lifetime decision - if you are like most players, you'll shop for a new rig in a few years when you have some more disposable income and you want to try some new things.

O.K MOD my bad. Not 2. I re-read and it was 4 out of 25 that recommended the behringer, Even you do NOT like it.

Yeah, I'll play.

I only just parted with my Behringer BXL900A 90-watt combo (12-inch driver) a couple of weeks ago, during GC's Trade-In Frenzy (TM) or w/e they called it. I had been using it for band practice.

I played it at max volume for 5 hours at a time every Saturday for maybe 6 months. Kept expecting it to blow up, but who cares, right? It's just B*******r I bought for less that $200 years ago.

Well, it never blew up. And it sounded great. Obviously if I was playing it dimed there were some headroom issues. And it did buzz a little but that didn't matter to me. And this particular model had no line out or speaker out for an extension cab. So it didn't suit my needs. I have put together a relatively low-wattage head and 210 cab to rehearse with. But that's a luxury.

Really, years ago when I was nickel and diming and haggling with the GC guy over that 90-watt combo, I should have bought that big 300-watt with the 15-inch driver and the line out and the compressor. I would not have traded that in. It would have been good enough for something.

These aren't the best amps in the world but IMO/IME they sound better than the Behringer, Hartke, and Peavey combos and should suit you just fine. The quality on them is also very good IMO/IME. Not to mention they are not that expensive either and should fit into a 7th graders budget nicely.

I was actually going to buy one of these. I love the EQs on Fenders, and their overall appearence, but i figured i might want more than 100 watts o' power.
