Behringer BXR1800H + (what cab???)

I just checked this new Behringer head. Its rated at 180watts which is by far the ideal watt i wanted because the 450 watt is just too big. Now i dont know which cabinet that i can run into and get a good tone? i really need help on which cabinet to run it on thx...

Have you purchased the head yet?

Behringer is definately a mixed-audience company. Some people swear by them, others hate them. From my experience, their stuff is cheap, and not very well made.

If I were you, I would look into Ashdown's Electric Blue series. They're 180 watts as well, and are fairly cheap but they're built pretty decently.

If you have purchased the Behringer, or are completely and utterly stuck in that decision, Behringer makes some inexpensive cabinets that you could use with it. If you're looking for a little better quality, look in the For Sale section or Avatarspeakers.com . Avatars are nice and really inexpensive, but then again for the price of a decent cabinet you could get an Electric Blue combo.

You know my vote, but YMMV.

I live in indonesia so i cant really find strange (no offense) amps around here. All i can find is
- Ampeg
- Behringer
- a little Crate
- Hartke
- Fender
- Roland
- a little ashdown and some unknown amps...

but my budget's quite tight and behringer is all i can afford.

My actual budget is around 400usd (thats around 3,8 million in IDR)
yeah well i really need an amp fast for a school fest

Ah, didn't realize you were overseas. Yeah, that limits your options a little. :(

I got my 300w Ashdown combo for 400 a few years ago, but prices have gone up since then.

For under 400 usd, I'd look at:

If you could could cough up an extra 30,

If you REALLY want the Behringer, go for it, but I wouldn't reccomend it.

Actually i picked the behri because its a cheap head cab. And since i know the shop owner who sells behri i can get about 50-80usd cut off from the list price (thats the way things work here) and probably an additional 10-20 cut off since i'll be buying the cabinets too. But behringer cabinets are rated at 500watt, it wont damage the speaker if i crank the head like 7/8 right??? the head is about 180 watt like i said, or should i just buy the 450 watt head??? or maybe i should just get a laney stack??

If you already have the head, it's cool. Just pick up the cabinet you have at that store.

If you're running 180 watts through a 500 watt cabinet, you're fine. You can't blow a speaker by putting less power than it's rated for.

Think of it this way - that speaker cabinet can handle 500 watts or less. 180 is less than 500, so you're in the clear.

I run a Carvin b500 through an Ampeg 810 - at 4 ohms (what the cabinet is rated at), the head puts out only 325 watts and the cabinet is rated for 800 watts. No problem.
