Behringer XR18 Air - Which tablet and why?

I just ordered an XR18

I have a laptop - but have never gotten around to getting a tablet. I Guess this is the time to do it.

Which series/types would you choose, and why?

I was thinking 16 GB is adequate, but was also thinking 32 GB so I could store music for breaks on it. Can I run it that way (use to runs system AND as mp3 player?)

nothing to break the bank - this is intended as my light "go rig" when I get it together, and leave the mixwiz and rack at the venue where I runs shows. I am going to build this over the year or so, and have 4 mackie thump 1000 (12)s and on K12. Will add another k12, and maybe a KW181 later. right now I have two Carvins (subs), with outboard amps.

So back to the question - which tablet type, spec, etc and why?

Definitely an iPad. Although it isn't perfect, it is still way more stable and has better software support than any competitor.

As far as specs go, it might be a good idea to get the model that fits your budget, get the best one you can afford.

Depends what else you want to do with it?
iPad's (as mentioned) are great, but so are Android's.
I have both...
The Behringer apps on iPad work well - for the most part. There are no Behringer apps for Android and mixing station is 3rd Party support only (albeit good and available on the Behringer forums).

I have an iPad and a galaxy tab pro 12.2. I usually bring both to gigs these days. Built in WiFi has proven itself at the regular venues I play to the point that I leave my laptop at home now. I'll still bring it to new venues in case I need to go wired. The nice thing about the galaxy is the micro SD slot, so I can bring enough music to dj. I occasionally do gigs where i can't get a reliable data connection. The large screen on the galaxy is also very nice to have. Given a choice between the two, I'd go with the tab first. If I was choosing between an iPad pro and the galaxy, it would be a tough decision, but the galaxy only cost me about $350 (refurbished). I have a slight preference for the Android version of the xair software, which is also something for you to think about.

The reason I bring both is because I'm usually running break Music from the galaxy while I ring out the monitors with the iPad

I've used both, they both work fine. It probably comes down to which OS platform you prefer and what you are already invested in.

I'm already invested in Macs and iOS, so there's my choice.

However, I did get a 128gig iPad for use as a giant iPod. It's kinda clumsy to use as a music device and a remote controller, so it didn't work out as handy as I would have liked. However, I usually have my Macbook Pro along, so I can run music remotely when needed.

Careful with the Surface 2, I believe that's a Windows RT device (not full blown Windows) and as far as I can tell from Behringer's site, not supported. Surface 3 or 4 would work but then you're talking much more money. The benefit there though is you'd be able to run the full PC X AIR EDIT software, and not just the mixing app.

iPad 2 will be fine, I'd go with the lowest memory model you can find if you're not going to be doing much besides XAIR and music though, 16GB will hold a LOT of tunes. An Android device will be cheaper and just as reliable in my experience. And if you read up on the XR18 thread here you will see numerous posts about the Android app actually being superior to the iOS version in layout and features. (Although I think most of the features have since been added to the iOS version.)

Thats what I am finding - I thing the IOS, Android and MS versions all seem to look a little different. I am using my laptop as I learn this.

My wife had bought me a small nextbook - 8" or so as a gift, and I can use it, but its pretty small. The laptop is easier although no touch screen.
I can live with that. If I could figure out how to scroll across like I have seen in youtube videos I might be able to use it better - but that might be IOS specific.....IDK
