Bent’s hack jobs

Don’t expect much!

Working on refinishing this VM Jazz
Stripped the poly and used water soluble stain. Lots of 0000 steel wool action after lots of 60 grit

Thanks everyone, the color is officially Magenta.

Went through the sand paper pile. Went like this 60-100-220-0000 wool. Then I did the stain, which raised the grain a bit due to the water. I repeated the stain until it wouldn't take, then more steel wool after it dried to tame the spots where the grain raised

Using Mixwax wipe on poly in clear. It's a very slow process, but I didn't have faith in the spray poly

Yeah man keep building it up, it's looking great. Poly takes many coats to start building up as you have witnessed.

And the neck color difference can be oxidation/UV or yeah sure FFry munge. LOL
A good scotch brite would take it off perhaps. I'd just clean it and leave it, you're the only one that would know it once it's back together. Well alright aside from your Pals here on TB.

Thanks!
The neck is definitely a little of both, but this bass was pretty icky when I grabbed it

To the point of having to be patient and let each coat of poly do it’s thing before I proceed. Not my strong suit. Guess I’ll actually to go play bass...

Yeah I guess I forgot to mention a most appropriate Tom Petty lyric:

"The waiting is the hardest part!"

That is tough, but yeah dry and lightly scuff/sand as recommended. I've made the mistake of rushing things, and you'll just end up having to be tortured all again with starting over.
