Berg Reference 112 vs Mesa Subway 112 vs Aguilar DB 112

Main factor: Wife
Secondary: "Living room" appeal

Looks are important but does not need to be a "real wood" furniture grade cabinet. I believe the three choices are quality sounding cabinets.

Love my Aguilar DB 112's in Chocolate Thunder. They fit in/look nice with wood furniture and sound great.

I love my Bergantino Ref 112's, along with my "rack of victory" -Fender tube pre and Crown power. I'm sure I heard my wife making fawning sighs as she passed by, just the other day.

Duke at AudioKinesis makes some incredible home audio wood cabs. I wonder if he could get you a nice studio sounding rig enclosed in one of those fancy wood cabs of his...as long as you said cost isn't a factor!

True though some manufactures do offer custom woods, stains and tolex wraps (designs). As "mmbongo" mentioned above Mesa/Boogie offers all of these. Generally a bit pricey but made in the USA and their products at least in my opinion are top notch.

If living room appeal is paramount and cost not a factor, a Mesa Custom Shop 112 is clearly the grail-gorgeous, furniture quality finishes in wood or leather and great sound....I'd go to their page and let her browse the options

I also use a Euphonic Audio cabinet - a Wizzy 12. When I first got it, I wasn’t all that impressed with it, but over time I’ve come to appreciate how good it is. It’s very detailed yet smooth because the sound emanates from a single point.

Yes, the WIZZY 12 is on my gas list. I've found that some speakers "wow" at first but become irritating over time. Others may seem more "bland" initially till you realize that you could listen to it all day.

Don’t forget, AccuGroove is back in business. Barefaced cabs are excellent, as was previously mentioned. Bag End also has some new offerings. Sometimes we only consider the more popular brands...too bad there are more options!
